Does anyone know you blog?

So I am really curious.  Does anyone know that you blog?  Do your friends know that you have another circle of friends, none of which you have ever met in person?  Do your coworkers know that you spend hours stalking blogs?

Here is why I am so curious:  I am in a weeklong math institute.  On Monday, we had to list one hobby and then find someone else in the room with that hobby.  Without thinking I listed my newest obsession, whoops - hobby: blogging.  As other teachers checked my card to see if our hobbies matched, I started getting the strangest looks.  If I hadn't known better I would have thought I had grown two (or even three heads).  I soon realized that I stood alone with my hobby - absolutely alone.  I also realized that since I have been hanging out with all of you, I assumed that we bloggers were in the majority.  Hey - there are a lot of us, so surely wherever I go, there will be many, many bloggers.  Whoops, guess that was a bad assumption!

So I am now sending out lots of love to you all ... I am so happy that I am a part of the blogging community.  I love having this opportunity to learn from such brilliant teachers and I also love being able to share my ideas.  Even if I am the sole blogger in the room, I am standing tall because I am proud to be one!

Love to bloggers and bloggets everywhere!

Camille

P.S.  The math institute is absolutely wonderful and the other teachers delightful (... even though they don't blog).
P.P.S  I will start sharing ideas again soon!!!  Promise!!!

  1. Love this post! Own it blogger girl! I find that I do get a little apprehensive about letting it slip that I am a blogger. I haven't told anyone I work with outside of my close friends that I do this. We share so much already, I wanted to have a different kind of exchange. I think also, the school atmosphere can get negative very quickly when people are stressed with demands and close working quarters. I've found that the blogging world always has something positive and uplifting to say, and I wouldn't trade it for anything--even if I do keep it a secret ;)

  2. I'm pretty open about my blogging maybe not so much about the blog stalking I do. Several teachers at my school follow my blog because I put it up on facebook but I've gotten mixed feedback. Some people think it's great and I can tell a few area little jealous that I do something they don't. But I am excited about blogging and loving the positive outlook I can always find here.

  3. I took a week long math class last week! It was all about Number Sense. I loved it! Oh, and BTW, no one knows that I blog. I guess that is why I have so many "followers" ha ha, and probably why I blog so infrequently now. I just can't keep up with all you amazing teachers.

    :) Keep blogging!!

  4. It's like a secret underworld for teachers! Even when people know you blog, and even see your blog, they STILL have no idea how much time, effort and energy goes into it. I just got done pinning your blog! I just found you for the first. I love P the C, too! You have great ideas, so I'll be checking back! :) Come over and see what I have going on at mine!

  5. Ohhhh ... I like that! Blogging is "... a secret underground world for teachers." You are so right - even if others know we blog, they have no idea of that underground world we are living in. Very well put!
